Susan May


Susan E. May earned her B.S. in Nutrition from the University of Vermont and her M.S. in Nutrition Education from Teachers College at Columbia University.

She has worked for Headstart in Lambertville, New Jersey and for Wesley Center in Summit, New Jersey.

Her background in art comes from studying at the University of Vermont, the Art Students League in New York City, the Philadelphia Academy of Fine Arts, the Ducret School of Art in Plainfield, New Jersey and from The New Jersey Center for the Visual Arts in Summit, New Jersey.

She has been a summer resident of Martha's Vineyard all her life and has tried to capture the beauty of the island in watercolor. Her paintings include Quitsa Pond, Oak Bluffs Ginger Bread Houses, the Gay Head Cliffs and Lighthouse, sailing races, boats, flowers and lighthouses. She has a fairly large selection and sells her work as a vendor of the Chilmark Flea Market every summer. Her repertoire includes Mr. Mole children's books which teach good nutrition to preschoolers.

Susan May will be a vendor at the Chilmark flea market every Saturday from 9 to 2, along North Road, Chilmark.
